“Szyb Maciej” is a mine in miniature. The sightseeing route leads from the top of the shaft tower through the heart of the mine – the winding machine, through a peek into the underground. There is a slag heap within the perimeter of the complex, entered in the register of monuments, in front of which there sits a stage – a former overpass linking the complex to Gliwice. We are the only facility in the Province of Silesia which is part of the Industrial Monuments Route and “Silesian Tastes” Culinary Route at the same time.
TOURS OF “SZYB MACIEJ”
The “Maciej” shaft, part of the history of the “Concordia” mine, has been transformed into a tourist, recreational, and cultural complex. A one hour meeting with the past in the company of a guide allows to learn how the mine operated, to see how the shaft was innovatively transformed into a water intake, and to have a peek into …the depths of the earth. The “Szyb Maciej” complex is the only preserved authentic mine of the kind in Europe. The complex is included in the register of monuments. It is also part of the Industrial Monuments Trail and the Silesian Tastes Culinary Trail.
GUIDED TOURS OF THE FACILITY ARE AVAILABLE AGAIN BEGINNING JUNE 1, 2021.
